Grow in confidence

I am 17 and in year 12 and have been volunteering with Project Impact for one year. As a result of my time with Project Impact, I would encourage other young people to volunteer. Volunteering allowed me to develop more awareness for other people and to make a positive impact. With Project Impact I have run virtual bingo sessions and pop culture quizzes for people in Kisharon houses as well as people in care homes. I was able to see first hand the difference giving even a little time can achieve. Just talking to someone can brighten up the day of someone in a care home, especially during lockdown when they were unable to receive visitors. As an introvert, being a part of Project Impact allowed me to get out of my comfort zone and grow my confidence in a way I didn't expect. I left each session with a real sense of having achieved something, which is reflective of the nature of volunteering. By volunteering you can help others and simultaneously be part of a very rewarding and enriching experience.
